Cloud CMA vs. TouchCMA

Key takeaways:

-You can use Cloud CMA as a lead generation tool. TouchCMA is something you use once you have a client. So far over 185,000 leads have been generated by using Cloud CMA’s “What’s My Home Worth” landing pages.

-Cloud CMA seamless integrates with all major MLS systems. TouchCMA’s search capabilities are limited.

-Cloud CMA is available in over 230 MLS providers in the country. As of March 2016, TouchCMA only works with 8 MLS providers.

-With Cloud CMA you can create a CMA by just sending an email. We call it a “One-Click CMA”. TouchCMA has no such ability.

-Cloud CMA report pages are designed to help win at your next listing presentation. The page content, order, layout are all designed with one thing in mind; help you win listings.

Recently a few of our clients have asked us to do a comparison between Cloud CMA and TouchCMA.  We are certainly not experts on TouchCMA but we thought we would highlight a few observations on key difference of the two products.

TouchCMA is owned by Windermere Real Estate and Long & Foster, real estate franchisors.

Windermere, is a real estate franchisor headquartered in Seattle, WA, Long & Foster is headquarted out of Virginia. As a broker do you want agents using software made by a competitor?

Cloud CMA is owned by W+R Studios, a privately held software company located in Huntington Beach, CA.  We are a software company, period.  We have no other goals other than creating great software for real estate professionals.

That being said, Windermere franchisees, and many independent Windermere agents have chosen Cloud CMA over TouchCMA.

We currently have two major Windermere brokerages who have either converted or chosen Cloud CMA over TouchCMA.  We think this is a strong testament since they would be in the best position to evaluate both solutions.

What CMA solution is compatible with more MLS providers?  Answer: Cloud CMA, by a mile.

At the time of this writing Cloud CMA is available in over 200 MLS providers around the country.  TouchCMA is only available in 14 markets.  To date Cloud CMA has over 107,000 active subscribers who have generated close to 2 million reports.

All major MLS systems have deep integration with Cloud CMA.  TouchCMA has none.

The top 5 MLS Vendors have Cloud CMA integrated in their MLS systems.  This includes CoreLogic’s Matrix/Fusion MLS systems, FBS’ flexMLS, Black Knight’s Paragon/REInsight, Rapattoni, and many others.  This means agents can search for comps on their MLS system and go straight to Cloud CMA with just a click of a button.

TouchCMA does not integrate with any MLS systems directly.  Agents must use their search interface, which is very limited, and will not let allow searching on all the fields on an MLS system.

Cloud CMA plays well with others.

With Cloud CMA agents can generate any report by just sending an email.  Any Cloud CMA subscriber can send the Subject Property address to and we will send back a fully personalized and branded CMA they can then forward to their client.  Cloud CMA does all the work.  To find out more about this innovative feature please check out this video.

We recently introduced a “What’s My Home Worth Button” that can be added to any website or blog.  By clicking this button and following the instructions a fully branded and personalized Cloud CMA report will be automatically generated and sent to the client.  The agent will receive an email notification that a CMA was sent.

All of Cloud CMA reports can be easily shared on Facebook, Twitter or a blog.

Cloud CMA has an API program.  This give developers the ability integrate Cloud CMA in their other software solutions.  This also make it easier to implement Cloud CMA with other tools and services your brokerage may provide.

TouchCMA offers none of these innovative features.

Blended data is better data.

MLS data, by itself, rarely tells the whole story.  Cloud CMA integrates content from top websites and blends that information with MLS data to give clients the full spectrum of information about the property and area surrounding it.  Our partners include:

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Zillow
  • Great Schools
  • Down Payment Resource
  • Mapquest
  • Real Satisfied
  • Zillow Agent Reviews
  • Testimonial Tree

We also have 40 pages of professional written content, by noted industry writer Blanche Evans, that helps agents overcome many seller or buyer objections.  Agents have full control on which information is included in each report.  Currently TouchCMA only provides commute drive time stats from INRIX.

TouchCMA is actually two different computer programs.  Cloud CMA does it all in one!

TouchCMA has two different versions on their software.  One that runs on a iPad only (TouchCMA for iPad) and the other that is web based (TouchCMA for the Web).  Cloud CMA is strictly a web-based application.  The advantages of having an iPad only version of TouchCMA are far outweighed by the disadvantages.

  1. Consistency.  Any changes you make on one version of the app means you have to update the other platform.  Many features get out of sync or never show up on both platforms.  This equates to a bad user experience.
  2. Cost.  Supporting multiple platforms cost more than supporting one platform.  Those costs will show up eventually.
  3. Ease of use.  Agents may find it frustrating having to switch back and forth between applications to get their work done.
  4. Support.  Agents might be confused when calling or emailing support issues about what platform they are working on.

Cloud CMA is web based, it works on multiple devices including a Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, and Android tablets.  Since Cloud CMA is web based, there is nothing to install and all users enjoy any new enhancements.  Without the burden of supporting multiple platforms our engineers are focused on creating great software, not managing multiple platforms.

Design is not just about how something looks, but how it works.

Our motto at W+R Studios is creating “hand-crafted” software.  We take great care in the look and feel of our software.  The same care and attention are focused on all presentation materials, whether on a printed page, computer or tablet screen. Our goal is simple, make real estate professionals look awesome in front of their clients.

Our printed/pdf reports have a magazine quality layout.  The layout, the typeface, the content and even the page order have all been vetted by our artists and designers.

We think this attention to detail is very obvious once you compare Cloud CMA report pages and the look of our interactive tablet presentation to TouchCMA.

See the difference here:

TouchCMA – Online Presentation

But design is not solely how something looks, but how something works.  In this area we believe Cloud CMA also has the edge over our competition.

1.TouchCMA focuses too much on the search aspect of getting comps.  TouchCMA search interface will always be limited, it will never be as robust as a full fledged MLS system.

2.Cloud CMA has partnerships with all major MLS vendors and offers deep MLS integration.  Cloud CMA users press one button in their MLS system to transfer comps to Cloud CMA.  No limitations.

As to the much touted ability to add comps in to your CMA at a listing presentation (which is certainly doable with Cloud CMA) we ask the question, “Why would you do such a thing?”  We liken this to re-rewriting your resume during a job interview, or changing a tire while driving.  It’s a feature that may sound impressive, but in real life seems ill-advised.

The best use of a tablet at a listing presentation is not what you think.

Agents simply cannot show enough data on the small screen of an iPad that will communicate the information that should be given at a listing presentation. And shrinking the size of the font to fit all that information on the screen is not the answer.  Do you expect Sellers to hold the iPad a mere 4 inches from their face to be able to read the text?

The tablet is best used for showing photos of properties (comps).  It is our view that a tablet presentation is a complement to your full CMA report, not a replacement.

We think that leaving a printed report with your Seller at a listing presentation is a good idea for many reasons.

Edward Tufte’s, a noted expert on data visualization, wrote…

No matter what, give everybody in the audience one or more pieces of paper, packed with material related to your presentation.  Handouts can show pictures, diagrams, data tables, research methods, references, names of people at the meeting…Unlike evanescent projected images permanent and portable pager has credibility.  Paper serves as a testimonial record documenting your talk, letting your audience know that you take responsibility for what you say.”  – Visual Explanations, Page 69

I had to look up what “evanescent” meant, and here’s what the internet says:

“soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing.”

Which is exactly the wrong message you want to send a client.  The goal is to be their listing agent, not a ghost.  If agents must “go paperless” we would suggest at least emailing a pdf of the CMA report, assuming it not just a copy of the tablet presentation.

Cloud CMA works with your Intranet via SSO and includes a real time Broker Dashboard gives real time business intelligence on all agent report activity.

Cloud CMA is compatible with popular SSO solutions, so it will work well with most intranet solutions.  Cloud CMA also offers its broker clients a real-time Broker Dashboard.  This gives brokers full access to manage and support their agents.  Including real time stats on report creation, type, and number of users on the platform.

TouchCMA provides no such SSO integration or provides the level of business intelligence that Cloud CMA does.

We have also put together a comparison charts

  1. My company is very touchy about their brand, e.g.,coloring, images etc. what are the. Mechanics in making sure that happens

  2. Gary has been a great help! I think I figured it out with the help of Gary. I am new to this so I am sure I will have more questions but the feedback and quick response has been a tremendous help.

  3. Hi Adrianna,

We are working on creating a default format where the number of pages are not so overwhelming. It should be released very soon. Thank you for your feedback!

  4. I just signed up for this program mainly for the “What’s my home worth” link. While it is a great idea I am afraid that the size of the report is more than a client is going to want. 54-70+ pages is just too many. I want to have a reason to have my clients call me not have them run. I wish there was a way that I could customize how much info they receive.

  5. Hey Maureen! We have heard that question before and it is definitely something that we are working on! Thanks for the suggestion! You are full of great ideas 🙂

  6. HI, Do you think we will ever be able to change the picture on the landing page for the What’s my Home worth page? It does not look like anything in my area. Thanks for the information!

  7. The issue I have with Cloud cma is that you cannot set search defaults. For example, % of subject square footage (why would I want to compare a small house the one 3x the size) status, Active, Pending and sold only (I do not want to see expired and withdrans)
    Sort should be Desending so
Active, PS, sold show in that order. Being able to set a map search also.
What’s my homes worth is a great idea, but the results that the client sees, not greathe or accurate because of the reasons stated above.

  8. “We recently introduced a “What’s My Home Worth Button” that can be added to any website or blog. Are you just teasing us?! Where is the info about this “What’s My Home Worth Button” on your website?
